Naval Air Station Fallon is home to the TOPGUN program. Yes…that TOPGUN. The official title is the Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program, SFTI for short (pronounce that siff-tee, you’ll sound like you know your stuff). SFTI began in 1969 aboard Naval Air Station Miramar in San Diego, California. The course runs about 12 weeks and is held at the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center aboard NAS Fallon where it relocated in 1996.

In their down time, we want our Navy Pilots to be comfortable, so Nevada Yamas Controls is partnering with Preferred Construction Company and will soon be mobilizing to upgrade the room controls of the Bachelor’s Housing Units at NAS Fallon. This large project involves over eight hundred housing units in ten buildings, upgrading the controls in each unit from pneumatic, electric, and legacy DDC to SmartStruxure Lite by Schneider Electric.

Installed in the housing units will be Schneider’s SE7000 Series room controllers, which will control heating and cooling based on sequenced actuation of motion sensors and door and wall sensors to determine occupancy. These devices will communicate in ZigBee mesh networks with MPM routers which will serve BACnet to the base’s existing AX control system via new JACE controllers.

NASF has a dedicated Ethernet control network, but it’s not currently in the Bachelor’s Housing Unit buildings. So, our Project Manager and his team will be employing Solectek 5 GHz Ethernet transceivers to complete the connection from the JACE controllers to the base’s server.

We’re looking forward to employing this combination of solutions to help the US Navy save energy and money while increasing the comfort of the men and women who train at this facility.

We at Utah, Idaho and Nevada Yamas Controls express our gratitude to the men and women of Naval Air Station Fallon for their service in keeping the skies safe!
